Genocide

Genocide is the action of killing people in the large group, usually by the ethics or their nation. Learning about this make me felt really bad, and I never thought that this things have ever happen in our planet. My country(Cambodia), also faced this problem. On 1975-1979, it was the Khmer Rouge time. The Khmer Rouge think of people like element. They said that, if you hurt your legs they would cut your legs out. The Khmer Rouge have an idea that every should be the same. Many of the old Cambodian have gone through this war. My grandfather and my aunt unluckily didn’t make it.

Zaman School Stem Festival

Some Liger students get invited by the government to join the Stem Festival. I and my friend Vuthy was presenting about lego robot. There were a lot of booths and many interesting topics going on. After presenting for one hour, we went to others booths to see new science projects. Most of the presenters were our age and from Zaman school. We also met a special guy, he’s the American ambassador. It was great to present our project to him and have a nice chat.

Liger Olympics

In Liger we have a time at the end of the school year to play a game called Olympic. In Liger Olympic games are parkour, dancing, solving challenges, sports, etc. We also have trophies for the winning team. There are four trophies, floor hockey, capture the flag, dance off, and overall. This year my team won two trophies, floor hockey and dance off. I think it was really fun and the last time that we do it only for our generation. Next year the new generation will come so it is no longer only us. We will have more students than staff.

Trip to Kept

On March 31 to April 3, 2016 all Liger students and all of out staff were having a trip to Kept to celebrate our fourth year at Liger school. We arrived our destination at about 4:00 pm. The place that we slept in called Jasmin Valley. It is surrounded by green forests. The second day of the trip was pretty fun. What we did for the second day were practicing about trust each other, learned how to use GPS, learned how to take a picture, and learn how to describe the word using the environment, because in the afternoon we need to go find treasure and captured photos in the forests. On our way we found all the treasures but I made a big mistake. I left my team behind. On that day I felt really bad to what I have done. On the third day we went to Rabbit Island to have a relaxing time. When I just got there I played a little bit of frisbee and just straight away into the sea. At night every one meet together including staffs and students to look back to our first year that we met. It was really fun to look back to your old pictures. After the meeting we danced until 9 pm.

Floor Hockey

We never know what is floor hockey, until one of our teacher introduced it to us. He was explaining us about the rules how we play and some techniques. I think I can at another sport in my Favorite Sport List. We really enjoy the new sport that our teacher introduced us to.

Football with ISF

On the May 21, 2016 before my I turn 14, the Liger boys and girls team were playing football with ISF second team, and for boys we won them 9-2 and I also scored one goal for Liger team. But the team that we played with was not the best team that they have. For Liger team, we have a lot of people for substitute but their team only a few, so that was one of our advantage. Unexpectedly the girl team have lost them 5-1, but it was a good experience for them too. I think we all played really well DSC_6848and I think we deserved the score that we got.DSC_6962

Literacy-Pronunciation

In this year, we are trying to speak English with accents. We are Cambodian, and English is our second language. Many people struggling with letter V and W. Most of Cambodian pronounce wocatioin instead of vocation. We are been practicing for about three months in our literacy class, and now we’re starting get use to it. Another letter that hard for me is the letter R. The sound of the letter R is nearly strange for Cambodian accents. There is a quote that say that “practice make perfect” but if we practice the wrong thing, it won’t make perfect, it will make habit. So we need to change how we pronounce words and practice in the right way.

Frisbee-Extension

Before I came to Liger, I never know what is Frisbee. Liger had introduced me to a type of sport called Frisbee. I really enjoyed it when I played for the first time with our Robert (Liger ex-director). In Liger, we have a program after school called extension. Our extensions are from 4:20 pm to 5:20 pm and from Monday to Thursday. One of the activities that I have participated was Frisbee. When we play Frisbee, we divided the team equally in gender. But after we played the Frisbee we also did trash collecting. We collected trashes because the people or the kids that were watching us, the could see and learn from us. Some of the kids were following us and some of them weren’t. We play Frisbee once every week and we keep collecting trashes every week. From one week to another people were joining to collect the trash. We were impressed for what we did, and for our ultimate Frisbee team have a quote that say “after we used the space that we played in and when we leave the space we always make it better”. What I like about Frisbee is when I play Frisbee my stresses are disappear and make me healthy.

Basketball Competition 3v3

We have a basketball competition and you know that I really love sport. It was the 3v3 competition and there is one substitution in a team , so there are for people in a team. We were practicing for one week. We have five matches in total. We had three boys team from Liger school and 3 girls team. I was really nervous and our opponents were bigger than us. We joined the u15 competition and when I was some people that played with us they said that they’re 15 or 16, so it was not really fair for Liger school team, and I just 13 years old. I told my coach that and he said because he want to challenge me to play with the older guy because he knew that if I play with the younger kids, I might win and it’s not help me to improve.

Interior Design Exploration

In this round of exploration, students get a chance to create their own exploration about any thing they want to.  For my exploration in this round is Interior Design. We have six members, three girls and three boys. In this exploration is 100% students lead. We have two facilitators to help us on anything that we need. We asked our director to design a room in our school for the staff house. Most people said interior design is easy, but it’s not. We use a program called Floor Planner. First it was a bit hard to use it, but for a few days it comes along. In our jobs we divided into three segments, there are kitchen+dining room, bedrooms, and toilet. I and my partner Thiny were responsible for kitchen+dining room. What I have learned from the process of doing this exploration is when we do something, it is not step by step because sometimes we need to stop and take a look at what we have done and sometimes we might don’t like it and go back to our first or second step.
